Police in Baltimore County are investigating an early morning shooting in Middle River.

A 21-year-old man was shot once in the upper body as he was walking on Midego Drive near Banca Place (21220) at around 2 a.m. on Sunday morning.

Witnesses heard the shooting and found the man lying on the ground, suffering a gunshot wound to the upper body.

He was taken to an area hospital and is expected to survive.

The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival.

Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
