Woman arrested for DUI twice in one day

DUI Driving Checkpoint PoliceMaryland State Police recently arrested and charged a Baltimore City woman twice for DUI within one day.

The woman has been identified as Stephanie Ringgold, 33, of Baltimore City. Ringgold was charged twice with similar charges on Saturday, August 11, 2018. In both incidents, she was charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI), driving under the influence (DUI), and several other traffic charges related to the traffic stops.

During the first traffic stop, Ringgold also had a 4-year-old, a 6-month-old, and another adult passenger in the vehicle. As a result, Ringgold was also charged with DUI while transporting a minor and DUI per se while transporting a minor. Both of these additional charges carry enhanced penalties.

Shortly after midnight on August 11, 2018, a state trooper was patrolling the area of Route 40 in Rosedale when he saw a gray Dodge Charger exceeding the posted speed limit and passing a vehicle on the shoulder. After stopping the vehicle, the trooper observed signs of impairment as he made contact with the driver, later identified as Ringgold. She was subsequently arrested and transported to the Essex Precinct, where she was processed and later released to a sober driver.

Less than 20 minutes later, the same trooper saw Ringgold arrive back at her vehicle, get in the driver’s seat, and drive away. Having just advised Ringgold she was not allowed to drive for 12 hours, he stopped her again, and observed signs of impairment. Ringgold was subsequently arrested a second time and transported to the Towson Precinct, where she was again processed and later released to a sober driver.

As a result of her second arrest, Ringgold was again charged with DWI, DUI, and DUI per se. She was also charged with driving a motor vehicle within 12 hours after a DUI arrest.

A court date for Ringgold has not been set at this time.
