The 12th Annual 2018 Get Ready! Get Set! Get Fit! 5K Run-Walk and 1 Mile Walk to support older adult health and fitness will be held on the campus of CCBC Essex next month.
The event will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, September 16, 2018.
Registration opens at 6:30 a.m. with health and fitness screenings and free massages starting at 7:30 a.m. The 5K race, which is professionally managed by Charm City Run, attracts participants of all ages who run and walk the course. Medals are given for the fastest three male and female 5K finishers overall, as well as the top three male and female runners in all age categories.
The 1-Mile Fun Walk is open for younger and older participants. Door prizes, including a total of $500 in Fitness Pays Grand Prizes sponsored by Van Dyke and Bacon Shoes, will be awarded (must be present to win). The first 250 onsite participants receive a “swag bag” full of gifts.
The road closures will begin at 8 a.m., warm-up will begin at 8:15 a.m., and 5K will begin at 8:30 a.m.
