Crews are responding to the scene of a Friday night apartment fire in the Hillendale neighborhood in Parkville.

At just before 7:30 p.m., units responded to the area of Dowling Circle (21234), near the intersection of Loch Raven Boulevard and Taylor Avenue.

Fire personnel arrived to find fire and smoke in the three-story apartment building.

Crews are currently helping trapped occupants escape from the building.

A second medic unit has been requested.  There has been no word on the severity of any injuries.

Rescues are in progress and motorists should use caution in the area.
