Pedestrian killed while crossing Eastern Boulevard

Authorities say a man struck by a vehicle while crossing Eastern Boulevard in Essex on Tuesday evening has died.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene at just after 5:15 p.m. after a pickup truck that was exiting Route 702 onto Eastern Boulevard struck the man as he was crossing the street.

The pedestrian, a 49-year-old male, was taken to Franklin Square Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the truck did remain at the scene

Police have not yet released the identity of the victim.
