A pedestrian was killed in a fatal hit-and-run accident in Joppa overnight.

At about 4 a.m., emergency crews responded to the area of Philadelphia Road at Gunpowder Ridge Road.

At the scene, paramedics had found that one pedestrian had been fatally struck.

Philadelphia Road was shut down for several hours so authorities could inspect the scene.

Anyone with information on this accident is asked to call the Maryland State Police Bel Air Barracks at 410-879-2101.
